Family-Led Care for Adults with Developmental Disabilities

Since 1997: Growing Together in a Home Like No Other.

In 1997, our founder, Ghislaine Léonard, looked at the landscape of care and realized something fundamental was missing. She didn’t want to build a facility; she wanted to build a family. Her vision was beautifully simple yet profoundly transformative: to create a true home where adults with developmental disabilities are not just residents, but deeply cherished members of a family.
For over two decades, Résidence Léonard has been the realization of that dream—a sanctuary where individuality is celebrated, and where parents can finally breathe out, knowing their loved one are safe, loved, and exactly where they belong.

A Letter to Families from Our Director, Line Leduc

Dear Parents and Families,
I know the journey that brought you to this page. You are looking for more than just a facility or a care program for your loved one; you are looking for a home. You are searching for the peace of mind that comes from knowing your loved one is safe, understood, and deeply loved, even when you are not in the room.
When my mother, Ghislaine Léonard, first opened the doors of this home in 1997, she did so with a simple but profound vision. She saw that adults with Autism and development disability didn’t just need supervision—they needed a place to belong. “My mother, Ghislaine Léonard, always taught me that to care for a resident is to welcome them as our own family.” That philosophy is the heartbeat of Résidence Léonard today. We are intentionally small, welcoming a maximum of only six residents. This intimate scale is our greatest strength. It allows us to truly know your loved one—their favorite morning routines, what makes them laugh, and how they prefer to be comforted. With only six residents, our staff has the luxury of time: time to build deep bonds, time to listen, and time to celebrate the beautiful individuals they are.

Compassion, Empowerment, and Community at Our Heart

Our Core Values

Running a home like ours requires more than good intentions; it requires an unwavering commitment to the pillars that have sustained us for more than two decades:

• Integrity and Transparency: We are honest and open in everything we do. We always do what is best for each resident, and follow the highest ethical and professional standards of care.

• A Culture of Joy: We don’t just manage behaviors; we cultivate happiness. We prioritize finding joy in the everyday and celebrate the “small wins” that make life meaningful.

• Unshakable Stability: We are incredibly proud to have residents who have lived with us for over 25 years. This is a forever home, built on long-term trust and enduring relationships.

• Aging in Place: As parents, your biggest fear is often, “What happens when my loved one gets older?” Our home is fully wheelchair accessible and designed to adapt to your loved one physical needs as they age. Once they join our family, they never have to leave because their needs have changed.
